Governance

Early-Career Committee

The Early-Career Committee develops trainee pathways, mentorship stubs, and trainee programming for SIRiiM as an Institute program. All committee seats are VACANT pending internal interest, Board slate review, and Clay Hess / Institute Board clearance. The reserved MPC-EC seat is tracked on the Meeting Planning roster and is also VACANT.

Mission

  • Draft a trainee and early-career pathway with Membership; live dues remain HOLD.
  • Build mentorship structure and COI-aware matching stubs; names remain unassigned until cleared.
  • Develop trainee programming for the first meeting and listening options, using roles-only planning.
  • Coordinate advocacy for the reserved MPC-EC seat without owning the MPC roster.

Seats (VACANT)

Seat / workstream Status
EC Chair (often the Early-career Liaison) VACANT (1)
Mentorship VACANT (2)
Trainee programming VACANT (2)
MPC liaison VACANT (1)
Reserved MPC-EC cross-committee seat VACANT (tracked on MPC roster)

Planning target: 5–6 EC seats, plus the separate reserved MPC-EC seat. Awards / Fellowships remain HOLD.

How bots work with seated people

Institute bots work with each seated person on ops, coordination, drafts, and tracking; humans retain scientific and governance judgment. The default is a committee-level bot liaison. Personal bots require a named person and Clay Hess clearance. No PHI. Outside outreach remains HOLD until Clay clears a named recipient and message.

Interest (internal)

Use the internal volunteer interest form: /governance/volunteer

Submit interest (internal) — no public application or seating claim is implied.
