What the Institute trains
A formal twelve-lecture superficial radiation therapy course of the CureRays Innovation & Education Institute prepares licensed clinicians who intend to seek the California X-ray Supervisor and Operator Permit in the dermatology category. The course is preparation. It is not a permit, it does not issue a permit, and completing it does not oblige CDPH-RHB to grant one. Verify current requirements with CDPH-RHB.
The lecture arc, in brief:
- Radiation physics for the office
- Interaction of radiation with tissue
- Dosimetry and units
- Radiobiology — cell survival and repair
- Radiobiology — fractionation
- Radiation protection and shielding
- Occupational and public dose limits
- Patient selection and lesion assessment
- Treatment planning and delivery
- Acute and late effects
- Quality assurance and equipment
- Regulation, documentation and the examination
A hub-and-spoke model is worth nothing if the person at the console does not understand the beam. That is why the Society points here instead of pretending a web tutorial is a permit pathway.
What clinic partnership is
CureRays Radiation Medicine describes a practice-partnership offer: in-office therapeutic radiation for a defined set of skin and benign conditions, specialist oversight, and survivorship support. That is clinic business. It is not Society membership, and it is not an SIRiiM scientific position.
